Collier County Public Schools

I&039;ve been a student at LWTHS all 4 years ofhigh school. I was in the first freshman class and will be in the first graduating class in 2010. When I first started high school, I went to Gulf Coast for several weeks before transferring to LWTHS. It was the best decision I&039;ve made inlorenzo walker technical high school all my years of schooling. Gulf Coast was a very crowded and mainstream high school, while LWTHS is small and very progressive. Because the classes are so small, everyone knows each other, including the school staff and students. It&039;s an extremely close-knit and friendly school. The vocational programs are ntastic and makes me wonder why regular high schools don&039;t incorporate them. The only real con is that the administration is often very unorganized, and &039;important dates&039; are more like estimated dates subject to last-minute change. Overall, a very safe and friendly school.

Very poorly organized... Not at all a good school... 0stars... I give it an F minus... Should not have sent my kid here...

My child loves this school. She said it was thebest decision she ever made. Last year she went to BCHS and said the classes were too easy/ no challenge. We looked for an alternative and applied to the medical program at Lorenzo. She loves it, and said the teachers are great; she loves the small class size, and loves the ct she will graduate with college credit, and will be able to work as a certified MA while attending college.

Whittiers MCAS Enrichment Program has been developed to improve students performance on the MCAS. Whittier states that they have assumed a proactive role in this endeavor and their goal is to work with students to develop the skills necessary for successful MCAS results.

Despite Mayor Bloombergs efforts to show progress in graduating college-ready high school students, new statistics show that 75% of high school graduates will require some sort of remedial work in college.

Courses are designed in a sequential format and are integrated with the vocational-technical areas, wherever practicable and mutually beneficial. Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School, commonly known as Whittier Tech, was founded in 1972. Located in Haverhill, MA, the school currently serves about 1400 students, with a 12:1 student-teacher ratio. It serves many surrounding cities and towns primarily in the northern section of Es County, accepting students from Haverhill, Newburyport, Newbury, West Newbury, Rowley, Amesbury, Merrimac, Georgetown, Groveland, Ipswich, Salisbury, Lawrence and Methuen. The school was named in honor of local resident, Quaker poet, and slavery abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier.

Whittier Tech has an extensive number of student activities. They include the Key Club, SADD, Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (SkillsUSA-VICA), Multicultural Club, Model United Nations, Performing Arts, FICI club, Chess Club and Student government.
